Polifonía búlgara | Svetoglas

Although most Bulgarian folklore is monodic, there is also a two-part polyphonic tradition (dvuglas) similar to that of other Balkan regions. In this tradition, a soloist performs the upper voice while another one or two perform bourdons. On the other hand, the religious chants that hybridise the Byzantine tradition with folklore are also characteristic of Bulgaria. 0:00 Halleluiah (10th century chant) 2:28 I miss you, Yagodo (wedding folk song)* 4:32 Last night a child was born (ancient ritual folk)** 5:48 Thee we sing, Lord (church cant)* 8:42 Ruja (People love song)** 11:11 High tree (antique religious ballad of St. John the Baptist)* 14:34 Lord, give us rain (ritual folk song)** 16:40 Two horses (Popular humorous song) 18:17 Petrunka (People love song)*** *Arrangement by Milen Ivanov **Arrangement by Daniel Spassov ***Arrangement by Philip Koutev Svetoglas (Milen Ivanov, Daniel Spassov, Stanimir Ivanov and Viktor Tomanov, voices) Concert (excerpt) "Bulgarian Polyphony" from the cycle "World Polyphonies" https://www.march.es/actos/100503/ 14 May 2016 Fundación Juan March, Madrid ______________ All Concerts since 1975: https://www.march.es/musica/publicaci...
