Police discover more human remains in Salford murder investigation

Police searches are continuing in Salford, Greater Manchester, after more human remains were uncovered in a major murder investigation. An investigation was launched on April 4 after a passer-by found a lower back, buttocks and a thigh wrapped in multiple sheets of cellophane at Kersal Dale, Salford. A 12-day search of the area commenced, with a huge cordon in place and search teams out for almost two weeks in a bid to identify the victim. Over this weekend, four separate police cordons were put in place at Blackleach Country Park in Walkden, Worsley Road in Winton, Linnyshaw Colliery Wood also in Salford and Mitchell Street in Bury. Greater Manchester Police revealed that further human remains had been found. Police revealed that the victim is thought to be a man in his 60s from Salford. Although formal ID has not yet taken place, his family have been informed of the discovery and are currently being supported by specialist officers. Two men - a 42-year-old and 68-year-old - were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of murder. They remain in extended custody for further questioning around these developments.
