The Othon Hotel, one of the most iconic in Salvador's history, has been closed since November 2018. Six years after its closure and subsequent abandonment, a historical treasure hunt is underway in the building, a landmark of tourism and modern architecture, located on the waterfront of the Ondina neighborhood. During its four decades of operation, the Othon Hotel was a destination for artists and dignitaries, a role now played by the luxury hotels in downtown Salvador. The hotel was also part of Salvador's cultural circuit, with concerts in the green area and the legendary Hippopotamus nightclub. We visited the building at the invitation of CASACOR Bahia, which takes place at the hotel from September 17th to November 6th.
