A graduate of Modern Literature with a thesis in Contemporary Art History, she earned a PhD in Art History in 1989. Since 1986, she has held the chair of History and Methodology of Art Criticism at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, and from 2000 to 2005, she has been a member of the CNAM (National Council for Higher Education in Art and Music), an advisory body to the Ministry of Universities, Scientific Research, and Technology. In 1988, she began collaborating with Arte Fiera di Bologna, first as a consultant and then, from 2003 to 2012, as Artistic Director. From 1983 to 2004, she was a correspondent for "Il Giornale dell'arte" (Umberto Allemandi Editore, Turin).
