'Paradise' music video created by Fort Albany Youth

Straight from the youth of Fort Albany, 'Paradise' is a heart song to contemporary Rez life. Its lyrics and melody will inspire you. "Paradise' was created by the Fort Albany Youth with artists facilitators Jeremiah Otis and Brett Rogers in an ArtsCan Circle Workshop held from March 27 - April 3, 2023, at the community hall and the outdoors. The workshop format is "Healing Through Music," the brainchild of recording engineer Jeremiah Otis. Participants learned how to create a storyboard, write lyrics, sing, record, film, edit and teamwork. Thank you to our funders, volunteers and Fort Albany community members for helping us make this happen! ArtsCan Circle opens pathways of opportunities for First Nations, Innu, Inuit, and Métis youth to collaborate with artists, access instruments and artistic tools, and share their stories through creative expression. Our mission is to confront the realities and inequalities facing First Nations, Innu, Inuit, and Métis youth in remote, Northern communities. To convey one clear message to the youth: You are valued, and your voices are important.
