Nyekor 18/108. THARPALING , The Land of Liberation in Bumthang

Tharpaling is one of the eight ling/ centers associated with the Great Longchenpa. Longchen Rabjam was a 14th century nyingmapa master born in 1308 in Tibet. In his later years he travelled to Bhutan and propounded the great Dzongchen teachings to his devotees. It is believed that it is at this place, Tharpaling that his students attained liberation upon hearing and practicing the teachings taught by him, the name of the nye thus came to be known as Tharpaling meaning the land of liberation
