Hyundai IONIQ 5 After 100,000 Miles: Honest Review
My Hyundai IONIQ 5 has officially reached 100,000 miles, and this is my complete long-term ownership review after nearly four years of daily driving. One of the biggest questions people ask is about battery degradation. After more than 100,000 miles, my high-voltage battery is still sitting at 91% State of Health (SOH) and that's despite relying primarily on DC fast charging for most of my ownership. Over 100K miles, I've only had to replace the 12V battery once, and I upgraded to an Ohmmu battery. I've also gone through just two sets of tires, which has been better than I expected for an AWD EV. Most dealership visits were for Hyundai TSB software updates that improved features like regenerative braking. The charging port door failed once and was replaced under warranty. More recently, the A/C compressor was replaced under warranty as well. My charging port pin caps weren't covered, so I repaired them myself in a previous video. Like many owners, I also experienced the ICCU failure at around 80,000 miles, proving that it can happen even if your vehicle has been running perfectly. After 100,000 miles, I can still recommend the Hyundai IONIQ 5, especially if you find a great deal on a used one. The futuristic design still gets compliments everywhere I go, and it remains one of my favorite EVs to drive. That said, Hyundai still has work to do when it comes to long-term software support and communication with owners. Promised features like Plug & Charge still haven't arrived for my vehicle, and the infotainment software feels dated compared to newer EVs.
