2 Mistakes in One Race… Can I Still Save It? | Zwift Level Up Racing Stage 2

Stage 2 of the Zwift Level Up Racing Series, in Category A, on the BRAEk-fast Crits and Grits route in Scotland. This race started with a problem before the flag even dropped: I didn’t have time to warm up properly. And on Zwift, especially in Category A, that can make the first few minutes extremely painful. The route is short, punchy and unpredictable, with rolling terrain, sharp climbs, and a final ascent where everything can explode. With only 14 riders on the start line, the race was always going to be tactical. There is less room to hide, but also fewer riders to control every attack. My plan was simple: survive the opening climb, stay sheltered in the group, avoid wasting energy on every move, and wait for the final climb before really going all in. For most of the race, that plan worked. The group stayed together despite a few attacks, the pace was high on the climbs, and it was difficult for anyone to create a real gap. But in the final kilometers, the race finally opened up. Riders started attacking, small gaps appeared, and the fight for the best result became more and more intense. And then came the second mistake. A mistake that could completely change the result of the race.
