I Tried to Break the Group… But It Came Down to a Crazy Sprint | Zwift Level Up Series Stage 3

Stage 3 of the Zwift Level Up Racing Series, in Category A, on Hilly Route Reverse in Watopia. This race was short, punchy and tactical: 2 laps, around 18.8 km, and about 218 meters of elevation gain. With only 11 riders on the start line, I knew it was going to be difficult to hide, but also difficult to create a real gap. On paper, I was probably one of the lightest riders in the group, so my plan was clear: I didn’t want to arrive fresh with the strongest sprinters at the finish. I wanted to make the race harder. Every time the road went uphill, I tried to test the group, increase the pressure, or launch a move. I attacked a few times, tried to create a split, and hoped that another rider would come with me. But the group was too strong, too alert, and too evenly matched. The Belgian rider was also very active, Lee pushed hard on the climbs, Chabert tried to sneak away, and several moves looked dangerous for a moment… but nothing really stuck. So despite all the attacks, despite the climbs, and despite the attempts to make the race harder, everything came back together for one final sprint. And this sprint was ridiculously close.
