The name of this recipe is as big as my hunger: Stale Bread Pie with Leek Leaf! 😂😋 #OneMorePiece Ingredients: 3 Stale (French) Bread Rolls, Cut into 2 cm Cubes 1 Leek Stalk (Green Part Cut into Thin Strips) 800 ml Milk 4 Eggs 100 g Prato or Gruyère Cheese, Cut into Thin Strips 2 Slices of Chopped Bacon 2 Level Tablespoons of Cornstarch 1 Pinch of Nutmeg 1 Pinch of Black Pepper Salt to Taste Preparation: Fry bacon in a skillet until golden brown. Remove some of the fat to brush the base of the baking dish. Add the green leek strips and fry for 5 minutes. Add the white leek strips and fry until very soft, 10-15 minutes. Mix 400 ml of milk with cornstarch. Add the cornstarch mixture to the pan and remove from the heat as soon as it thickens. Add 400 ml of milk and mix well and let cool. Beat the eggs with a pinch of salt and strain. Add the eggs to the leek and milk mixture (already cooled). Add nutmeg and black pepper. Salt to taste. Place the bread cubes on the bottom of the baking dish. Spread the cheese over the cubes. Cover with the leek mixture. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) until firm and the surface is golden brown (40-50 minutes).
