In the name of the Father, and of the Son ✠, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 🛐 ACT OF CONTRITION “My Lord and my God: I firmly believe that you are here, that you see me, that you hear me. I adore you with profound reverence. I ask your pardon for my sins and the grace to make this time of prayer fruitful. My Immaculate Mother, Saint Joseph, my father and lord, my Guardian Angel: intercede for me.” 🙏 OPENING PRAYER O glorious Saint Bonaventure, son of the heart of Francis, glory of the Seraphic Order and pillar of the Catholic Church! By the zeal with which you regarded the honor and glory of God, look upon all the faithful and inspire in them a solid piety and a sincere devotion, which separates them from the love of earthly things and unites them intimately to God. A piety that is useful for all things, and that carries within itself peace and concord, the support of the family, Christian fraternity and charity, the ornament of piety and of the Church. A piety that unites the inhabitants of this exile with the citizens of the heavenly homeland, and that illuminates the intellect with the uncreated light that is wisdom and love; and keeps faith alive, hope firm, until through charity it leads us into the bosom of God to enjoy His glory for all a happy and blessed eternity. Equally blessed, seraphic heart, angelic spirit, genius of wisdom, send us a ray of light and a spark of love so that we may recognize dangers and abhor all earthly things, so that our hearts may remain faithful to divine inspirations and, through the practice of virtue, we may merit to possess and enjoy the delights of eternal love. Amen. 6️⃣ SIXTH DAY Obedience of the Seraphic Doctor Jesus became obedient unto death for our sake, and came into the world to obey and do the will of the Father; and Ventura, seeing himself reflected in this divine image, obeyed all divine inspirations with such submission that he always attained improvements for his spirit. When he accepted the Bishopric and the Cardinal's Hat, he revealed the excellence of his obedience. The Papal Legate found him busy washing dishes; and after receiving him with all due civility, he asked permission not to neglect such a humble task, and hanging the hat on a dry stick, continued washing the others. The Lord wished to show how pleased He had been with this act of humility, and for this purpose He worked a miracle, causing the stick that had held the hat to blossom. 🙏 PRAYER O most blessed and most loving Jesus! Because you rescued us from the oppression and tyranny of sin, you submitted to ignominy and scorn; I praise you with all the devotion of my heart and rejoice in the virtue of your servant, humbly beseeching you to console me in my afflictions and grant me a heart submissive and obedient to your inspirations, and afterwards, eternal glory. Amen. 🛐 State the grace you wish to receive with this novena, if it is for the glory of God and the good of your soul, and pray an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. 🙏 FINAL PRAYER O human Seraph, luminous torch, glorious Ventura! Sacred Etna of divine Love, who inflame wills with your light and example, hear the prayers of your devotees and attend to my needs and those of the Church; Pray to the Father that He may make them humble, obedient, and chaste, charitable to all, lovers of the Passion of Jesus, so that His memory may move us to act in all things according to His divine will, and we may attain the joys of glory.
