Today is Friday and we present you a new video. We are located in Ano Pedina in the prefecture of Ioannina. Ano Pedina is built at an altitude of 960 meters above a small plateau, on the southern slopes of Tymfi and about 35 kilometers from the city of Ioannina. The village is a declared traditional settlement, as it preserves the characteristic Zagorian architecture. Ano Pedina (Ano Soudena, the oldest name of the village) experienced a period of prosperity in the second half of the 19th century. Among others, Neophytos Doukas, one of the most famous teachers of the nation and one of the most important figures of the Modern Greek Enlightenment, and the medical philosopher and writer Ioannis Lambrides, were descended from the village. An important attraction of Ano Pedinon is the Monastery of Evangelistria, at the entrance of the village. Its catholic church, dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, was built in 1793.
