Title: Tuberculosis in Quebec: An Integrated Approach with the Clinic, Laboratory, and Pharmacy Presenters: Dr. Richard Ian Menzies, Dr. Pierre Allard, M. Benoît Lemire, Pharmacien, MUHC Hybrid Medical Grand Rounds 5/12/2026 at 12:00-13:00 Educational objectives: 1.Explain the benefits, and potential role of the therapeutic drug monitoring in TB treatment. 2.Explain the advantages of using tandem mass spectrometry for anti-tuberculosis drugs testing 3.Request a blood concentration test for anti-tuberculosis drugs in accordance with collection Biosketch of Richard Ian Menzies, MD Dick Menzies is a respirologist at the Montreal Chest Instituite of the MUHC, and a clinical reseacher of the RI-MUHC. He is also Director of the McGill International TB Centre, and the McGill-WHO Collaborating centre in TB Research Biosketch of Dr. Pierre Allard Pierre Allard holds a PhD in biochemistry and post-doctoral certifications in Clinical chemistry and Biochemical genetics (CCMG). For 21 years, he was co-supervisor of the biochemical genetics laboratory at CHU Sainte-Justine, where he contributed to the development and validation of methods in mass spectrometry and other techniques. Since June 2025, he is the supervisor of the clinical mass spectrometry platform at MUHC. He is actively involved in the implementation of new laboratory tests by mass spectrometry, including for tuberculosis. Biosketch of Mr. Benoît Lemire, Pharmacien, M. Sc, FOPQ Benoît Lemire holds a master's degree in advanced pharmacotherapy from the University of Montreal and is certified by the American Academy of HIV Pharmacy. He works in the Chronic Viral Illness Service at the McGill University Health Centre and in the Quebec Antiretroviral Therapeutic Monitoring Program. He is a clinical associate at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Montreal, where he teaches tuberculosis pharmacotherapy.
