Battletoads (NES) - Arctic Cave Theme (All Instrument Cover)

Here's the Arctic Cave Them from the fourth stage of 1991's Battletoads, released on the NES by Rare! Battletoads is somewhat notorious as a game that in spite of having pretty excellent play control, is also a very difficult game. On and off for the past few months, I've had this song in my head, but I'd forgotten what game it was from. I kept associating it with Ironsword for some reason, but about a month ago, I happened to see a videoclip of this stage from Battletoads, solved my ear worm mystery, and fairly rapidly transcribed and tracked the song! For a really short tune, there's an interesting key change in the main part of the song. The melody and bassline start in E minor, and after a quick ascending run through the E minor scale, modulates down to A minor, and then modulates back to E minor. Interestingly, when the modulation happens, the lead melody is a completely parallel move (all interval distances between notes are the same, so on guitar it's the same pattern). After this sequence, there's an upbeat turnaround section that features a chromatic melody harmonized in 4ths. Alot going on in a short song! This was a fun tune to learn and record, I had particular fun writing the drum parts as the percussion noises on the original song were pretty sparse and open.
