Totally Rad (NES) - Stage 1 and 2 Themes/Because I'm Totally Rad (All Instrument Cover)

Here's a medley of the themes from the first two stages of Totally Rad, released in 1991 on the NES! Totally Rad is a relatively average to somewhat above average platformer that was released somewhat late in the NES life cycle and was a relatively obscure game. The game was originally known as Magic John, but had all the cut scenes localized into a generic 90s surfer/Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure style dialogue, rendering the gameplot fairly incoherent. Nonetheless, this game had a few tunes that were bangers, particularly, the stage 1 theme! I put this medley together for Dwelling of Duels, taking the music from the 2nd stage, followed by the 1st stage theme, and connecting them with an original motif I wrote that is probably best called "Because I'm Totally Rad" for self-explanatory reasons. I've been listening to alot of Four Stroke Baron lately, so I wanted to experiment with writing a fairly abrasive metal riff with vocals that have a big hook. I originally wanted the vocals to be through a vocoder, but short on time, I opted for a slight amount of ring modulator. The two bits that were most challenging to put together for this song were the turn around in the stage 2 theme that the only way I could figure out how to play was via tapping, and the intro lick for the Stage 1 theme which I was able to alternate pick on guitar and bass, but I opted to double the guitar with one tapping the line as well. I added a harmony to the main melody of the stage 1 theme, which wasn't too rough on this song as unlike many NES game songs, there were no notes borrowed from out of the key of the song! Anyway, this one was crazy to put together, I believe I tracked and mixed the whole thing in about 8 days, which is probably the lower boundary of how fast I can put a song together!
