Ministro de Seguridad de Santa Fe relata cómo se recuperaron las calles del crimen organizado

On the program "It Could Be Worse," we spoke with Pablo Cococcioni, the Minister of Justice and Security for the province of Santa Fe, about the fight against organized crime in his province. Cococcioni explained that 12 neighborhoods in Santa Fe and Rosario accounted for 90% of the lethal violence. This is compounded by the significant social and urban deficiencies in the area due to the control exerted by drug gangs. In response, a security program called Focused Neighborhood Intervention (IBF) was activated, a task force that brought together different levels of government to intervene in the territory. The minister explained that the strategy included raids for drugs or weapons, entry with police protection, opening up streets, garbage collection, and immediate assistance to vulnerable children. Finally, he clarified that in the most critical neighborhood in Santa Fe, where 4 out of every 5 homicides occurred, there are now almost no cases, because the intervention successfully regained territorial control with a comprehensive state presence.
