¿Qué es el XILOCRUZ? Elotes, elopozole y un RITUAL ANCESTRAL | Así lo vivimos... 💐🌽🌼

In the rich cultural mosaic of our state, one of the most important dates for many of our communities is September 14th. On this day, farmers head to their plots of land to fulfill an ancient tradition: El Xilocruz. On this occasion, we are in the town of Carrizalillo, in the central region of the state of Guerrero. Here, dozens of families gather to their farmlands, ready to fill the air with the sweet aroma of copal and adorn the perimeter of their fields with pericón flowers. From this date on, corn is ready for harvest, and during the celebration, it is boiled with tequesquite. In addition, the traditional elopozole is made, a dish that mixes corn kernels with red chili peppers and chicken or pork. Family and friends gather, invited by the owner of the field, to share this festivity. Without a doubt, this has been one of the most meaningful experiences we have had in our state. Every day I'm more amazed by the vast array of beliefs, customs, and traditions it offers. I hope you enjoy this experience as much as we did.
