In this episode of our Kyrgyzstan trip, we embark on the most extreme expedition: reaching the remote mining town of Enilchek (or Inylchek). After the success of our explorations in Chernobyl, Varosha (Northern Cyprus), Semipalatinsk, and Pyramiden (Svalbard), I knew we had to find another trace of the Soviet past. And we found it at over 4,000 meters above sea level, hidden among the highest peaks in Kyrgyzstan. Our journey begins in the city of Karakol and takes us to spend a night in a tent amid breathtaking scenery, but our true destination is Enilchek. Once a thriving tin and tungsten mining center, today it's an empty shell, a ghostly monument to the USSR slowly crumbling before the peaks of the Tian Shan. Join us on this incredible adventure, through rough roads, epic landscapes, and the unique thrill of walking among the ruins of a forgotten world.
