The Hidden Blue Hole

We Found a Secret Portal to the Ocean... Hidden in the Jungle 🌴🌀 Just when we thought we had seen it all in the Solomon Islands, our friend John Wayne told us about a place that isn't on any map. To get there, we had to leave the comfort of the boat and hike deep into the interior of the island. It was a brutal trek—barefoot over razor-sharp limestone and through dense, humid bush where the trail frequently disappeared. But the struggle was forgotten the moment the earth opened up beneath us to reveal The Blue Hole. This isn't just a swimming hole; it’s a geological wonder. Mapped by specialist divers, this deep blue eye in the jungle connects to a network of ten underwater caverns that tunnel through the island's bedrock, eventually exiting into the open sea. It is a silent, sacred world home only to fruit bats and a legendary giant eel that guards the depths. To finish our time on the island, we visit a site dedicated to Kesico, the Fishing God. Half-human and half-frigate bird, Kesico is said to have sat upon these rocks, observing the tides and seasons to grant his people the bounty of the sea.
