GENE KELLY'S "POOR BUTTERFLY" SOFTSHOE REPRISE by ALEXIS THOMAS-SZLACHTA & ARNAUD GROMARD

My friend Arnaud Gromard and I had planned to do this dance together in Paris when the COVID-19 crisis broke out. Each on our own side, from our respective countrysides, here's our clumsy attempt to recreate a softshoe duet. This is Gene Kelly's "precision dance" from "An American in Pasadena" and before that from "The Hollywood Palace" (and before that from "Invitation to the dance"). He said it's inspired from a famous vaudeville trio : "King King and King". Enjoy ! Mon ami Arnaud Gromard et moi avions prévu de danser cette chorégraphie à Paris quand le coronavirus est arrivé. Chacun de notre côté, depuis nos campagnes respectives, nous avons maladroitement essayé de recréer ce duo de softshoe. Il s'agit du numéro de "danse de précision" de Gene Kelly que l'on retrouve dans "An American in Pasadena", et avant cela dans "The Hollywood Palace" (et avant cela dans "Invitation to the dance"). Il disait que ce numéro était inspiré d'un classique du music-hall : "King, King and King".
