03_Hollywood Hotshots | Roaring 20’s into the Golden 30’s

TuTu Dance presents Lipstick, Shoes & Fancy Moves 2026, America: One Land Many Stories, at the Armstrong Theatre, Torrance, California ~ www.tutudance.org Let’s travel back in time and relive the jazz age together. We’re heading to the Roaring Twenties and the swing scene of the 1930s. The Hollywood Hot Shots specialize in recreating classic American dances for film, television, and music videos, bringing this incredible era back to life. First, they’ll take us to Harlem’s legendary Savoy Ballroom, where dances like the Lindy Hop were born. The Savoy was a very very important place. For more than three decades, the Savoy was a premier destination for the greatest swing bands and dancers. Even more remarkably, at a time when segregation was widespread, it stood as a vibrant and welcoming interracial space, a true meeting point of cultures where music and dance brought people together. Next, we bring it a little closer to home. Our gentlemen will perform the tranky doo and the big apple, a 1930s classic routine, to music by Duke Ellington and Tommy Dorsey.
