Tamacun - Rodrigo y Gabriela | WMC 2022

The Percussion Ensemble of the Vriezenveense Harmonie [NL] plays 'Tamacun' as a part of their programme: "Shaping a Legacy". Originally composed by the Mexican guitar Duo Rodrigo y Gabriala, Tamacun is a popular guitar song, featuring in an episode of Breaking Bad. The first percussion arrangement of the piece was created and performed by the Wave Quartet, who have transcribed the piece for 3 marimbas and cajon. As our closing piece, we wanted to go out strong and with energy. Thus, Niek KleinJan has taken the Wave Quartet's piece as a baseline to create a large percussion ensemble edition which can not keep you from moving to the colourful melodies. Performed at the World Music Contest (WMC) 2022. 9th of July 2022 I Theater Kerkrade, the Netherlands Conductor: Niek KleinJan With a score of 92.62, the ensemble placed itself as a global 3rd in the 1st Division. #Percussion #WMC2022
