Do you? Then in this video I'm going to teach you how to make your Lambari plant look full! I'll show you how to prune, repot, and how to make cuttings in practice, since I'll be doing all of this in my 3 Lambari plants. PRUNING I'll start by doing a radical pruning to remove the excessive length of the branches. This is a process that can be done frequently, because the more we prune, the thicker the branches will become and the fuller the plant will look. Over time, as the branches get longer, they become thinner, the leaves smaller, and the spacing between them larger, meaning the plant becomes sparse. You can prune using scissors, or even your fingertips, as the branch breaks easily. I'll also take the opportunity to do a cleaning pruning and remove all dry branches and leaves. CUTTINGS At the time of pruning, we separate the healthiest branches, as you only need to take a piece to make a cutting. It's important to pay attention when planting to leave a small node (where the leaves and roots emerge) buried or in contact with water, if you choose to wait for the branch to root before planting in the soil. SUBSTRATE The substrate I will use is a mixture of topsoil, tree bark, crushed charcoal, and coarse construction sand. I will add a little castor bean meal, which is an organic fertilizer rich in nitrogen and will help make this substrate more nutritious at this stage. *Remember that castor bean meal is toxic, so avoid using it if you have curious animals in your house. The substrate needs to be quite loose because the roots of the Lambari plant are thin, and a compacted substrate doesn't favor the plant's development. It also needs good drainage, as waterlogged substrate can cause the plant to rot. PLANTING I'm going to create drainage layers by placing some gravel at the bottom, but you can also use broken brick or expanded clay. I'll put a piece of drainage mat and the substrate I prepared. A tip is not to overfill the pot with substrate, otherwise, when watering, the water may overflow and the soil may wash away. So, ideally, plant leaving the substrate 1 to 2 fingers below the rim of the pot. To ensure the pot is well-filled, it's necessary to distribute the seedlings throughout the pot. Simply make a small hole, place the seedling with the node inside the soil, and press lightly. If you push the stem to try to make the hole directly, it may break and the seedling won't take root, so opt to make the hole first. Since the branches don't need to be very large, pruning yields several new plants. As I have planting trays, I'll plant some here, and once they're more developed, I can transfer them to pots or distribute the seedlings. WATERING Always water after planting to settle the substrate and hydrate the plant. Lambari should be watered whenever the soil feels slightly dry when touched. LIGHT Our Lambari plants should be placed in shady areas with plenty of light or partial shade, meaning they receive weak sunlight in the early morning or late afternoon. FERTILIZATION Frequent fertilization is important to keep the plant healthy and vibrant. I've been using Bokashi, an organic fertilizer that can be applied once a month, and also NPK 15.9.8, which is slow-release and therefore applied to the pots every 5 months. Another treatment I've been using, mainly on the pink Lambari plant that suffers from rust spots caused by fungi, is the application of Bordeaux mixture, a compound that nourishes the plant and combats diseases because it's copper-based. The bluish residue found on the leaves is due to the Bordeaux mixture. -------------------------------------------------------- Crys Bernardes Florist, decorator and gardener passionate about Nature Instagram -   / elatem.maniadeflor   OUR CONTACTS Website - https://www.maniadeflor.com.br Whatsapp - (41) 3227-6725 Channel:    / maniadeflor   Video link:    • LAMBARI 🌿 COMO FAZER MUDAS, PODA e REPLANTE 🌱   Direction, images and editing: Tiago Borges Bernardes Script: Crystiane Bernardes #lambari #tradescantia #gardening
