In today's video, I'm going to give you valuable tips to grow one of the most resistant and beautiful indoor plants: ZAMIOCULCA. I will also teach you some ways on how to save a Zamioculca that is about to die. Let's start by knowing the origin of this plant: Zamioculca originates from the forests of the African continent, therefore it likes heat and shade. The best place for a Zamioculca to be grown is where it receives natural light, but without direct sun. But remember: shade is different from pitch. So don't put your Zamioculca in a place that doesn't have any natural light, otherwise it will wither and die. One way to observe that the light is being insufficient is when the plant begins to wither. The gaps between the leaves get bigger and the plant stretches out looking for more light. -------------------------------------------------------- Watering: as the plant has thick roots and potatoes (bulbs) that store water and remain underground, watering must be very spaced. Touch the soil to feel the moisture and only water if the soil is completely dry. -------------------------------------------------------- Substrate: the substrate used for planting Zamioculca must be very well drained, as the plant does not like the soil to remain moist. One option is to mix 02 parts of vegetable soil with earthworm humus, 01 part of coarse construction sand and 01 part of crushed tree bark with charcoal. Mix well so that the substrate is very loose. When planting, also make the drainage layers correctly to favor the flow of water from the watering. -------------------------------------------------------- Problems: One of the most common problems is for branches to come loose. This happens due to excess water. An attempt to save the plant is to cut off the rotten part and put it to root in water or directly in the ground. This process will take time as Zamioculca is a very slow growing plant. But worth a try! I myself managed to recover a plant that was in this situation. Yellowing leaves at the base are also a sign of high humidity, and if you notice this (before the branches break free), reduce the watering. -------------------------------------------------------- Propagation: you can make seedlings of Zamioculca through cuttings by branches or leaves (the second is more common) but it takes a long time. Another option is to divide the clumps. Shine on the leaves: it is not necessary to pass any product on the plant for it to have shiny leaves. That's natural. Just keep the leaves clean (use cloth and water or wash to remove dust). ATTENTION: all parts of Zamioculca are toxic if ingested.
