NANDI-NDAITWAH REAFFIRMS EDUCATION AS KEY TO DEVELOPMENT - nbc
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says education remains Namibia's most powerful tool to build an inclusive and prosperous society. Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah said this in a message read on her behalf at the official opening of Fillipus Aupa Nangolo Secondary School in Okaku Village in Oshana. Named after liberation icon Fillipus Aupa Nangolo, the school opened its doors in 2020 with Grades 10 and 11 and a population of 402 learners. In a speech read on behalf of President Nandi-Ndaitwah, Oshana Governor Hofni urged learners to work hard, respect teachers, and avoid drugs and violence. “Beautiful infrastructure alone does not produce excellent results. Success will depend on your commitment to hard work, discipline, respect, and perseverance. Therefore, use every opportunity before you wisely; study diligently; respect your teachers, support one another, avoid alcohol abuse, drugs, violence, and all behaviors that may destroy your future, and dream big because Namibia needs your talents.” The President said the government will continue investing in education to give Namibian children the opportunity to learn in conducive environments. She wants to see the school as a center of academic excellence, innovation, discipline, and community pride for generations to come. Guardians have also been urged to provide the support their children need to thrive. “Education is a shared responsibility! The government can provide schools, and teachers can provide instruction, but children succeed best when parents remain actively involved in their education. Therefore, continue encouraging your children, monitoring their progress, and partnering with the school,” added Dr Nandi-Ndaitwah.
