Identifying creeping bugleweed is easiest during its flowering period, which mainly falls between May and June. Despite its very high tannin and bittering properties, bugleweed is not poisonous. Questions about its toxicity are not uncommon, so there's nothing to stop you from making even a very strong bugleweed tea. Even after extensive research, I haven't found any serious side effects from the plant during normal use.
