.hack//G.U. is the sequel game to the 2002-2004 game series .hack//Infection, .hack//Mutation, .hack//Outbreak, and .hack//Quarantine (commonly abbreviated as IMOQ). Originally released on the PlayStation 2, the game was remastered as .hack//G.U. Last Recode and is available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The story takes place directly after the anime .hack//Roots following the tragic events that leads Haseo — known in-game as the “Terror of Death” — on a mission to find Tri-Edge and get revenge for player killing his friend Shino leaves her comatose. Along the way he discovers more about the MMORPG he plays called The World R:2. Later Haseo meets Gaspard and Silabus and becomes the guild master of Canard. He also joins Pi, Kuhn, and Yata in Project G.U. to explore the world for growing signs of AIDA, a strange virus that corrupts both in-game data and the real-world players connected to The World. Haseo vows to bring his friend Shino out of her coma and discover the mystery behind his former guild master of the Twilight Brigade, Ovan. He'll have to go up against some new foes like Kestral's Bordeaux, the Demon Palace tournament champion Endrance, and the elusive PK Tri-edge.
