Rehabilitation aims to restore tissue integrity, control pain, and regain fundamental joint range of motion—this is the work of guided healing. Return to sport, on the other hand, begins where rehab leaves off: rebuilding functional strength, power, neuromuscular coordination, and the specific movements of the sport being played. The most frequent mistake? Confusing the absence of pain with the ability to return to play. Scarred tissue is not tissue ready to withstand the stresses of the field.
