Running with a Legend (Andrew Lloyd)… Then We Sprinted (Sort Of)

I went for a run with an Olympic legend… and somehow ended up racing him. Andrew Lloyd is a Commonwealth Games gold medallist and one of Australia’s great distance runners. But what followed wasn’t just a jog and a chat. We recreated one of the most famous finishes in running history — the 1990 Commonwealth Games 5000m — and then tried it ourselves. Spoiler: history repeated itself… just a little slower. And to my surprise we had another of yesterday's heroes there. Greg Hoare, father of Australian Record Holder Ollie Hoare and also pretty handy in a pair of spikes too. This episode is part of Marathon 50 – The Long Return, as I build back towards marathon fitness and chase a bigger goal: 👉 How good can I be at 70? 🎽 Featuring Andrew Lloyd (Olympian, Commonwealth Games Champion) 🎥 Real race footage + our slightly less impressive reenactment If you enjoy running stories, history, and the occasional bad decision mid-run… you’ll like this one. 👍 Like & subscribe to follow the journey to Marathon #50 The Coffee Club Podcast : https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast...
