This article explains the Battle of Ichijodani Castle, which took place in 1573 (the first year of the Tensho era) between Oda Nobunaga and Asakura Yoshikage. At the call of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiaki, an alliance to encircle Nobunaga was formed. However, after the death of Takeda Shingen, Nobunaga exiled Yoshiaki and the siege collapsed. He began a full-scale attack on the Azai and Asakura clans. Meanwhile, the Asakura clan's soldiers were exhausted from repeated rescues of Odani Castle, and Asakura Yoshikage himself decided to send out forces.
