Lynne Dawson: Per me già di morire (Handel La Resurrezione)

Lynne Dawson is undoubtedly the Handelian Queen of the nineties. She worked with many of the great Handel conductors and made many seminal recordings; my favourites include her Messiah with Cleobury, Saul with Gardiner and both Ariodante and Hercules with Minkowski). Her Cleopatra could have been definitive if she had a more exciting conductor like Minkowski but definitely still worth hearing. Her voice has a beautiful plangent quality that is perfect for the role of Maria Magdalena and particularly effective in this Aria. She is now the head of voice at The Royal Northern College of Music. Lynne Dawson Trevor Pinnock The English Concert 1999
