But Dieter's story isn't just about travel. For 40 years, he ran his own hardware store and trained more than 50 apprentices during that time. Once a month, Mondays began at 7 a.m. with a shared breakfast and a meeting with the entire staff. The store didn't open until 9 a.m. A way of interacting with one another that is probably rare these days.
