千葉紅雪展 －祈りの造形－

Kousetsu Chiba, an avant-garde calligrapher residing in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, is holding his first solo exhibition at the Sendai Mediatheque in Sendai City. From April 3rd, the exhibition will also be held at the Michi-no-Eki Suzuri-no-Sato Ogatsu in Ishinomaki City. For 25 years, Chiba has been creating works themed around "prayer." The title of his solo exhibition is "The Spectrum of Ink - The Form of Prayer." We visited the venue and spoke with him about the meaning behind his continued expression of "prayer" and his thoughts on avant-garde calligraphy. Graduated from Tohoku University Junior College of Medical Technology and completed the Special Course for School Nurses at Yamagata University. While working as a school nurse in Miyagi Prefecture, she studied calligraphy under Ouchi Rohō and Chiba Sōgen. In 2018, she received the Mainichi Calligraphy Exhibition Member's Award. Currently, she is an associate professor at Miyagi Gakuin Women's University, a judge for the Mainichi Calligraphy Exhibition, and a judge for the Calligraphy Art Institute Exhibition.
