honey cheddar scones | when you want a homemade snack

Hi everyone! I hope you are feeling well :) I spontaneously decided to bake the other morning as I was desperate for a savoury treat. This is a really great recipe, though i was a little haphazard in the video (perhaps i was still half asleep). ANYway... here is the full recipe in case you'd like to give them a try! 280g plain flour 1/2 - 1 tablespoon sugar 2 & 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda 1/4 tsp salt 110g cold butter (grated or cubed) 120g cheese 150ml buttermilk honey egg for eggwash (optional) Method: Weigh out your butter and leave in freezer to get very cold (if making cubes, cut before freezing. 15-30 mins will do). Grate your cheese and set aside. Weigh out and mix the dry ingredients. If using grated butter, simply stir this into the flour mixture, followed by your cheese then mix. If using cubed butter, break and squash into smaller pieces with your hands, while distributing into the flour, (we dont want too fine or too chunky! About the size of peas), then add your cheese and mix. Add the buttermilk and fold briefly until it has nearly all come together into a dough. Turn out onto the worktop and gently press into a rectangle then cut out your scones. Brush with egg wash if using and bake at 190 degrees celcius (Fan oven) for 10-15 minutes. brush with honey and enjoy! x Music: Crazy for Love (Tribute Version) - Mondays feat.
