Founder Members Era Nineteen eighty two to nineteen eighty seven

Five seasons of mid-table football, one cup victory, and then Neil Baker arrives — and within eighteen months Leek Town are North West Counties League champions and founder members of the Northern Premier League. From nineteen eighty-two to eighty-seven, Leek Town were members of the newly formed North West Counties League, competing with credit but not competing for titles. Finishes ranging from seventh to sixteenth. One League Cup victory in nineteen eighty-five. And then Neil Baker took charge in nineteen eighty-six, finished seventh in his first season and won the league in his second, finishing ahead of Rhyl to earn promotion and a place among the founder members of the new Northern Premier League Division One. This is the story of the five years nobody remembers and the one season that changed everything. Again. This is an unofficial fan history, made out of love for the club.
