Crystal Pool

Before there was the Crystal Pool, families cooled off in the creek. In Part 2 of our Knoebels History Series, Dick Knoebel shares the story of how his grandfather transformed that swimming hole into the Crystal Pool, opening on July 4, 1926. Built with concrete mixed from sand taken right from the creek, parts of the original pool still remain today! From wool swimsuits marked with a giant "KG" to Sunday night pool parties, sulfur water showers, and Grandma Hattie washing hundreds of towels by hand, Crystal Pool's history is filled with the stories and traditions that helped shape Knoebels.
