What Would a New Pentecost Cost? Isaiah 57, Acts 4:5-31, 2 Chronicles 7:11-22 We all sin, we all fall short of God’s glory. This is not just a Bible verse, it’s the cold, hard fact of human existence. If we can swallow our pride long enough to ask for help to live better lives, we might say something like, “THY will be done…give us THIS day…forgive us our debts”. The wiser persons among us might add, “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” But the wisest among us- those who really want to be in God’s good graces, and recognize a need for a fresh Wind and a fresh Fire in their lives- know that what we need to do is repent; come to our senses, and turn toward God. They understand that repentance is not so much something we do as something that happens. They know that true repentance spends less time looking at the past and saying, "I'm sorry," and more time standing in God’s presence, and saying, "Wow!" KEY QUESTIONS: Has the church forgotten the WOW of God’s presence? Is the Gospel message always bad news, before it is Good? Why do Believers spend so much time swinging on life’s pendulum?
