133 Years Later… It STILL Sounds Incredible

Thank you for supporting this channel! https://buymeacoffee.com/Organicvisit... It was a great pleasure to have the opportunity to visit and play the magnificent J.J. Binns pipe organ at St Paul’s Church, Shipley, West Yorkshire. Built in 1892, this powerful tubular pneumatic action instrument has seen work by several organ builders throughout its history, with full details available on the National Pipe Organ Register. The most recent major restoration was carried out by Laycock & Bannister in 1982, and thankfully the organ’s original Binns character has been beautifully preserved. The attached console is situated in an organ loft within the chancel, and despite its position, the organ’s sound projects remarkably well throughout this large and open church. The commanding pedal reeds provide a cathedral-like foundation, complemented by an impressive variety of colourful fluework and powerful manual reeds. A huge thank you to everyone at St Paul’s Church for kindly granting access, and especially to Stephen for arranging the visit. Please excuse the video quality in places — the lighting around the console was quite limited, and there was very little space available for recording equipment. I hope you enjoy the video!
