1950s Olds "Ambassador" Alto Horn - Better than it ought to be! | Instrument Reviews

Outside of the UK/AU/NZ brass band tradition, alto horns were used sporadically in American marching and wind bands in the 20th century. They were usually relegated to just being "peck horns" and playing repetitive offbeat rhythms, but some of these horns are actually worth their salt as musical instruments, like this bell-front, marching-oriented alto. It would have originally been capable of playing in both Eb and F via a change of main tuning slide, but I only have the former. Still, given how it plays, I'd call this thing $120 well spent!! ~SUPPORT SPB VIA MONTHLY OR ONE-TIME DONATION~   / samuelplaysbrass   https://ko-fi.com/samuelplaysbrass Merch Store!! https://samuelplaysbrass.dashery.com/ Your generosity is greatly appreciated!! :) ~USED BRASS INSTRUMENTS/MOUTHPIECES FOR SALE~ https://www.ebay.com/usr/samuelplaysb... https://reverb.com/shop/sams-gear-emp... ~HANDY RESOURCES (not affiliated)~ Olds serial numbers: https://www.horn-u-copia.net/serial/O...
