Yellowtail Fishing 40 Miles Offshore San Diego

I went on a solo fishing trip on my 22 foot Seaswirl Striper boat in search of Bluefin Tuna while trolling the Nomad Madmacs. The tuna didn't want to bite, but I was able to find some good California Yellowtail fishing action on a kelp paddy that I found. I fished it by myself until a couple of boats noticed I was hooking up and came over to join in on the fun. The fish were biting flylined sardines on a circle hook using 25 pound test. The 2023 San Diego fishing scene is already heating up and it's just getting started!
