Fishing for Yellowtail on the Surface Iron at the Coronado Islands

We headed back down to the Coronado Islands in Mexico to chase yellowtail and barracuda with the surface iron — one of the most fun ways to fish Southern California waters. In this video, we’re casting jigs around the islands, looking for boils, bird activity, and that classic surface iron bite. The yellowtail were around, the barracuda were chewing, and the conditions made for a killer day on the water. There’s nothing like watching a fish blow up on the jig right at the surface. Long casts, fast winds, and hoping your iron gets smoked before it makes it back to the boat — that’s what this trip was all about. If you’re into SoCal saltwater fishing, Coronado Islands fishing, yellowtail, barracuda, surface iron, sport boats, private boats, or just getting out on the water, this one’s for you.
