How I Escaped From a Survivalist Family
Tara Westover’s father didn’t trust the government – in fact, he thought they had been infiltrated by the Illuminati. A survivalist, he believed the end of the world was imminent. Legally speaking, she didn’t exist until she was nine years old. And she didn’t step foot in a classroom until she was 17 – but by 27, she had a PhD from Cambridge. Now 31, she has written a memoir called Educated about her life as a survivalist’s daughter, and how her path to education, from a religious college in Idaho, to Harvard and eventually Cambridge, led to a split between her and her family.
