KNCHR faults government over handling of protests, alleged disappearances
The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), the government’s rights watchdog, has faulted the government over its handling of last week’s protests after documenting seven cases of enforced disappearances allegedly involving state agents. The commission is now calling on the National Police Service to investigate and disclose who took the activists, and to produce three other people reported missing this month. The demands come as Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo denied any government involvement in the alleged abductions, saying some of the victims had staged their disappearances. Brenda Wanga reports on the developing story.
