Hamburg: Umgeleitete Züge auf der Güterumgehungsbahn (März 2022)

In March, 2022, construction work took place at Hamburg at the railway bridges at the streets Ferdinandstor and An der Alster. The railway line between Hamburg central station and Hamburg-Altona (Verbindungsbahn) was closed for long distance trains. Suburban trains were not affected. As the line was closed, many long distance trains began and ended at Hamburg central station instead of Altona. ICE trains going to and from the ICE yard at Hamburg-Eidelstedt used the freight bypass line. Trains of regional express line RE70 to and from Kiel were also diverted there. Trains of line RE7 were cancelled between Hamburg and Pinneberg. Passengers going to Flensburg had to change trains. Intercity trains between Hamburg and Copenhagen were diverted via Bad Oldesloe and Neumünster. During the second week of March construction work also took place at the suburban line S1. Trains from Poppenbüttel only went to Barmbek and back, as preparations were done for the junction for the new line S4.
