The Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S Tourer joins the All-Electric series ⚡️, a category reserved for electric cars capable of doing practically everything: long distances, fast charging, good performance, and reasonable daily energy consumption. In this episode, we analyze whether this large electric family car from Volkswagen truly lives up to this demanding concept… and whether it can become a more accessible alternative to large premium electric sedans. 🚗😎 At almost five meters long and based on the Volkswagen Group's well-known MEB platform, the ID.7 Pro S Tourer combines enormous interior space with a high-capacity battery. Under the floor, we find an 86 kWh usable battery (91 kWh gross) that powers a rear motor producing close to 300 hp. The result is more than enough performance for any everyday situation, with a 0-100 km/h time of around 6 seconds and a top speed limited to 180 km/h. ⚡️💥 But the most interesting thing about this car isn't just its acceleration, but its fuel consumption. Under favorable conditions, it can maintain remarkably low consumption figures for its size, allowing it to achieve very competitive real-world ranges within its segment. The sedan version exceeds 700 km WLTP, while this Tourer body style sacrifices some aerodynamics in exchange for significantly greater practicality thanks to its enormous trunk. 📈 Inside the cabin, we find one of Volkswagen's most technologically advanced interiors. The large central screen of the multimedia system stands out, with modern graphics and smooth operation, along with an excellent Head-Up Display that projects a wealth of information directly into the driver's field of vision. However, there are also some questionable details inherited from the minimalist philosophy of the MEB platform: touch controls on the steering wheel, somewhat unintuitive window controls, and minimalist instrumentation that doesn't appeal to everyone. In terms of space, the ID.7 is in a league of its own among mainstream electric vehicles. The rear seats are incredibly spacious, with legroom more reminiscent of a large executive sedan than a mid-size car. This interior spaciousness is one of the model's strongest selling points, especially in the Tourer version, which also offers a huge trunk ideal for long journeys or family use. Behind the wheel, it delivers exactly what you'd expect from a large, comfort-focused electric vehicle. The generous wheelbase provides excellent stability and composure on the road, while the 15-level DCC adaptive suspension allows you to fine-tune the handling between comfort and control. It's a very easy car to drive, extremely smooth, and designed to effortlessly devour miles. 😎 However, it's not all perfect. As with other models based on the MEB platform, the brake feel can be somewhat artificial and imprecise in the final stages of braking. Furthermore, there's a noticeable lack of structural rigidity when driving on uneven surfaces, which is perceptible in the steering, pedals, and the overall chassis. As for real-world consumption, the figures can vary considerably depending on conditions. Under normal driving conditions, it's possible to see truly impressive figures for a car of this size, around 16-17 kWh/100 km, but in very cold temperatures or at high speeds, energy consumption increases noticeably. Even so, under typical conditions, it still convincingly fulfills the "fully electric" concept. ⚡️ In short, the Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S Tourer is a huge, comfortable, and highly efficient electric car for long journeys, inheriting many of the MEB platform's strengths but also some of its weaknesses.
