Police accused of excessive force in Ratanda
Residents of Ratanda in Ekurhuleni accused the police of being heavy-handed while dealing with protests over water shortages in the area. Two people were shot dead, and angry residents torched the mayor's house. They say they have been without water for over a month. Community activist Bayanda Radebe says there is no willingness to resolve the water situation.
