One of Japan’s Favorite Rice Toppings | Homemade Nori Paste

What do Japanese people eat with rice every day? In this video, I’m making homemade Nori paste — one of Japan’s bestselling rice toppings. Nori paste is most commonly eaten with freshly steamed rice, but it’s also used in many simple everyday meals: as an Onigiri filling, for Ochazuke, or mixed with vegetables and avocado for quick side dishes. Since it’s made mainly from Nori seaweed, it pairs naturally with rice and adds deep umami flavour. It also works surprisingly well with pasta. Just toss it with cooked pasta and you can make a simple plant-based version of squid ink pasta.
