About the artists: ANAHITA & APOORVA Anahita and Apoorva (https://anahitaapoorva.wixsite.com/an...) are among the highly sought after artistes of their generation in the Indian Carnatic Classical arena. They have won acclaim for their musical quality and impeccable synchrony. They started their initial training with their paternal grandmother Smt Shanti Jayaraman and have been under the guidance of world renowned maestro, Musician-Director-Composer Sangeet Samraat Chitravina Shri N Ravikiran since 2005. They have travelled across India for performanced and have enthralled audiences in the USA, Bahrain, Australia and New Zealand apart from having beenfeatured in prestigious events such as the Chennai December Festival, Cleveland Tyagaraja Festival, San Diego Festival, Uttar Dakshin Fest, Bharat Sangeet Utsav, IGNCA's Gandhi Parv, Kerala Government's Nishagandhi Festival, etc. Though in their 20s, both have bagged a number of National Awards including All India Radio Gold Medal in their teens and Govt of India CCRT Scholarship, recognition from the Govt of Tamil Nadu for performing and propagating Tirukkurals. Some of the other awards and titles they've received include: ● 'Sangeetha Mudhra' from Mudhra ● 'Isai Chudar' from Kartik Fine Arts ● 'Isai Arasi' from Trinity Fine Arts ● 'Bala Kala Ratna' from Balakalasagaram trust ● Rising Stars of 2019 from Shanmukhananda Sabha Mumbai, India ● Bhart Ratna M S Subbulakshmi Fellowship from Shanmukhananda Sabha Mumbai, India ● 'Guru Parupalli Ramakrishnayya Pantulu Award' from Dr. M Balamuralikrishna's Vipanchee ● S V N Rao Youth Award from Ram Seva Mandali, Bangalore ● 'Best performer award' from various prestigious institutions like The Madras Music Academy, Shri Krishna Gana Sabha, Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, etc. ● Women Achievers Award from Lions Club of Chennai ● Anahita was adjudged among the top 3 of the nation in the prestigious reality show 'Naad Bhed' by Doordarshan and SPIC Macay ● Apoorva was adjudged the runner up in the popular reality show Raj TV's Swarna Sangeetam. They have been involved in their Guru's world music collaborations with frontline artists and orchestras, anchored on his Melharmonic creations, an avant garde form of music that explores new chords and counterpoints based on melodic progression. Their first audio CD ‘Divine Equations’ was premiered in the Chicago Music Festival and they have released several more audio-video productions on various platforms. They were the lead singers in projects with legends of the dance world including Pt Birju Maharaj, Shri C V Chandrashekar, Dr Vyjayantimala Bali, Dr Leela Samson, among others. Their collaboration with Harikatha exponent Shri U Ve Dushyanth Sridhar have been welcomed by sell out audiences across India. They are deeply involved in exploring ancient works of poetry and setting these to music like Pasurappadi Ramayanam, Pasurappadi Bhagavatam, Rukmini Sandesham, Hamsa Sandesham of Vedanta Desikar, etc. As senior faculty members of the International Foundation for Carnatic Music, they are passionately involved in creating a culture of deep interest and discernment in classical music by being part of projects that take Indian classical music to grassroot levels. While Anahita is proficient in playing the Chitravina, Apoorva is a Violinist as well. Anahita is a BBA graduate and holds a post graduate certificate in M.Music Apoorva holds a double masters in M A Media Management and Music.
