"Bella... Be Good" Live Puppy Training Series | Ep: #6

This episode is actually a Facebook “Live” that we recorded to show you the first attempt at “place training”. We were headed to a show the following weekend and I knew that we would need the dogs to be on “place” for the majority of the time spent there. This episode was filmed about a week after we picked her up and by this time she began to settle in nicely and that allowed us to start moving forward with some more formal training sessions. Our focus again revolves around feeding times and we use that kibble as a reward for early on behavior forming. Sit, recall, steadiness and patience is rewarded with both food and praise. It’s still very early on and I’m still working hard to gain her trust and start to get a better understanding of her personality and style. She shows me some small habits that are not necessarily real desirable to me and I start to note those habits and develop a plan to reverse them in the near future. She is still struggling to find the confidence to move off or sit while we try to line her to her bowl. She isn’t real excited yet about feeding times and still gets distracted by things during feeding time. We start reversing that habit now. It’s a slow steady process and we don’t take, or make big strides on a day to day basis. However, with consistency day in and day out it adds up quickly and you will see the steady progress show soon in this series.
