High Energy Dog Retrieving Troubles: A Golden Opportunity | Day #2

Day 2 with this little golden retriever reveals some high energy dog retrieving troubles. We knew coming into it that Cedar was having troubles with the retrieve, an issue many people have. When my dad would throw a ball or bumper for her, she runs out, picks it up, but won't bring it back. This training session shows that, but there are a number of things we do to fix this retrieving trouble. Instead of pounding our head against the wall and continuing to develop this habit of running off with retrieves, we go to a location where her only option is bring it back to us. This is how we will form the habit, and we will continue to work on this down the road eventually getting this high energy golden retriever to retrieve. This is another short training session with my parents golden Cedar. It’s only the second day we’ve had her with us and I’m still very much in the “discovery” phase of determining where she is and what some of the strengths and weaknesses are in her training. Despite how short of a time we’ve had her, we are still getting some positive changes and that’s really all we can ask for.
